Baby Massage

I am a trained infant massage instructor with the IAIM (International Association of Infant Massage)

The IAIM message: The purpose of the International Association of Infant Massage is to promote nurturing touch and communication through training, education and research so that parents, caregivers and children are loved, valued and respected throughout the world community.

Courses are suitable for babies from birth to one year old, although as babies less than a month old often need frequent feeding and cuddles, it may be  worth waiting until they are a little older to get the most out of the course. The massage strokes are demonstrated by me, on a doll, and fully explained while you massage your own baby.

My classes:

I hold group sessions or one-to-one classes, promoting bonding, love and communication with your baby through nurturing touch. Currently classes are held in my home, in the KT8 area.

-group sessions-

This course runs over five weeks, learning strokes for different areas of the body each week, as well as re-capping previous weeks strokes so as to reinforce learning. We take time for reflection on the previous weeks massage, and have an open, comfortable environment where we can share our experiences as parents.

The cost is £60 for the five weeks, which includes a pot of massage oil, refreshments and an instruction booklet giving details of the massage strokes.

Each session lasts between 60 and 90 minutes, depending on the needs and size of the group.

This course can take place either in my usual class location or in the comfort of your own home, and allows you and your partner to learn the massage strokes together.

This course runs for two weeks, with each session lasting around 60 minutes.

The cost is £40, which includes a pot of massage oil and an instruction booklet giving details of the massage strokes. (and refreshments if you are in my home)

-private group sessions-
If you want to do the course with a group of friends, I can run a course for you either in my usual location or in the comfort of your own home.

This course runs over the same five week format as the group sessions.

Birth Doula

In short, I am here to help you prepare to have the birth you want. Be it in a hospital, a homebirth, induced, natural, hynobirth, all the pain relief under the sun; Im here to help you find and understand all the information surrounding your birth, enabling you to make the choices that suit you and your family best.

I'll be on call for you from around thirtyeight weeks until baby arrives, and be with you throughout your labour and birth until you and baby are tucked up together with a nice cup of tea.

The support I give you and your partner during labour and birth is that of reassurance and calmness. Whether that be through creating a soothing space for you, reassuring a not-so-calm partner, speaking with medical professionals on your behalf about your wishes, massage and breathing techniques for pain relief; I am here to support you physically and emotionally in any way you need.

I work with you to put together a birth doula package that suits you; for example: you may want to debrief a previous birth, or have more antenatal preparation; if you are expecting multiples we can begin the on-call period earlier; if you have an induction or cesarean date set, we can remove the on-call period after that time. If you have any questions at all about how you would like it to work for you, please do get in touch.

I am listed with both Nurturing Birth and Doula UK as a mentored doula, which means I have access to such wonderfully wise and experienced women as my mentors.

Postnatal Doula

As your postanatal doula, I am here to support you in any way possible; helping around the house, helping with baby, cooking, errands, a shoulder to cry on, tea and cake!

I am really passionate about supporting families and seeing new mothers blossom.

I believe in mothering the mother; building her confidence, enabling her to have the most satisfying and empowering experience of pregnancy, birth and life with a newborn.

I am passionate about enabling families to make well-informed choices, and there’s nothing I love more than baby snuggles!

I am able to provide postnatal packages to be flexible around your family’s wants and needs. I support you emotionally, physically and practically during your first days weeks and possibly months with your new baby / babies. I am here for you to ask any questions and talk over any concerns you may have, ensuring you have information and options that enable you to make the choices that are best for you and your family.

I have experience supporting families with twins, bottle feeding and breastfeeding support, caring for babies born prematurely,

I have over two and a half years experience of breastfeeding my own children, facing a variety of challenges including poor latch, non-stop feeding, engorgement, mastitis, combination feeding, weaning and perseverance!

Social meet ups for Mums

I hold coffee mornings for expectant and new Mums through the NCT.  They're a great place to meet other Mums, share experiences, and make friends. You don't need to be a member of the NCT to come along.

Please visit my local NCT page to find out when and where the next meet ups are happening.

If you'd like any further information, please don't hesitate to  contact me

Night Nanny

I provide a night nanny service, taking care of baby/babies from bedtime until morning, so that parents can have a full nights sleep.

Often how this works is, I come to your home at 9pm or 10pm depending on when you'd like to go to bed. I'd be either in the room that baby normally sleeps in, or if that is normally next to Mum, then baby would come into a spare bedroom or into the lounge with me so that parents would not hear baby waking in the night.

If baby is bottle fed then we will just follow the night routine that parents want. If baby is breastfed, then I can bring baby in to Mum to feed, then take back with me to wind, nappy change and soothe back to sleep to allow Mum as much asleep as possible.

I usually leave at 7am, to allow you to carry on with your day as normal (although much more refreshed!)

Workshops for girls

Coming soon - Supporting Mums is working on creating workshops for pree-teen girls, developing strong, resilient skills needed for the teenage years and beyond.
